5 secret ways to reduce body odour

Body odour can be embarrassing. There are countless reasons a person may have body odor, ranging from improper hygiene to a medical condition. Colognes and body sprays do little to cover body odor up, leaving the patient very disturbed to finding new ways to fight this frustrating condition. If you're seeking ways to reduce body odor, there several things you can do to approach this issue naturally.

Step 1

Avoid foods with strong odors, such as anything that contains garlic or exotic spices. Instead opt for fresh fruits and vegetables as well as lean meats and grains. A balanced diet can help eliminate some of the odors.

Step 2

Wear clean clothes each day and after every time you bathe. Choose clothes that are light in color and loose fitting. Loose-fitting cotton clothing allows air to circulate around your skin. Dark clothing absorbs sunlight rather than reflecting it like light-colored clothing does and should be avoided. If your clothes have an odor from wearing them, add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle next time you do the wash.

Step 3

Bathe daily. If the odor is strong and persistent, bathe twice daily. Odor is caused from bacteria on the skin that mixes with perspiration. Use an antibacterial soap to reduce bacteria and the odor will diminish as well. Dry your body with a soft clean dry towel thoroughly before getting dressed.

Step 4

Apply deodorant/antiperspirant after each shower and throughout the day as needed. Deodorant is an antiseptic that helps eliminate bacteria, while antiperspirant helps prevent sweating. For the most natural approach, pat baking soda underneath your arms before you put on your shirt. The baking soda absorbs moisture and odors. You may need to reapply it throughout the day to keep yourself dry.
Step 5

Drink plenty of water every day to stay hydrated. Keeping your body hydrated will help keep you cool. Eliminate caffeine and alcohol, as these tend to dehydrate the body.
