Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Adelaide (pronounced "ad-l-eyd") is an independent RnB/Pop and Soul singer, Songwriter, Actor, Model and Attorney at Law. He started singing at the age of 13 only to impress his high school crush and
what started out as just a hobby later became a great passion as
Adelaide grew up listening to the music of great singers including the
late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. In 2004, he was awarded a
Songwriting Contract by Paramount Group Inc., Nashville, Tennessee,
USA and has since then been writing songs for other independent
artists.
Adelaide always wanted to develop his vocal skills so he joined his school choir. This step that he took later proved to be the wrong step towards developing himself as a singer - "The choir master would put me in the middle of grown men and would expect my voice to sound as deep as that of a man in his late 20s and I was only a boy". This frustrated Adelaide and made him quit the choir just about two weeks after joining it - "I tried my best to use as deep a voice as I could while singing, but I just couldn't. That was when I realized that joining the choir wasn't the right decision for me at that time so I quit".
In 2007, while still in the University studying Law,
Adelaide released 3 singles, two of which got airplays in different
radio shows in the UK including the Orange Show in London, England.
Adelaide is currently signed to Sheer Publishing, a South African music publishing company that represents the likes of David Guetta, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry for Africa.
