Military Joint Task Force (JTF) recovers 5,207 rounds of ammunition in Damaturu the Yobe state capital.


The military Joint Task Force (JTF) on Monday recovered 5,207 rounds of ammunition in Damaturu the Yobe state capital.
Displaying the ammunition to newsmen, the JTF spokesman in Yobe state, Lieutenant Eli Lazarus said the Task Force recovered the Ammunition following a tip off made available to it while on a cordon and search operation along the Kandahar area of Damaturu.
Other items recovered according to the spokesman include; two pistol, one riffle; three grenade, and Improvise Explosive Devices (IED).
The Items he stresses were concealed in plastic jerry cans and buried in the ground in a suspected Boko Haram terrorists arm store.
The ammunition it was observed were adequately lubricated for what arm specialists said is to ensure better preservation and to avoid rusting.
The JTF spokesman called on the people of the state to be security conscious and to report any strange persons within their vicinity for further action.
He also implored residents who have knowledge of any hidden arms or ammunition to report to security agents for prompt action as complains will be rewarded accordingly.
